D&M Music Studio, in cooperation with Goethe Institut Thailand, is pleased to present Beethoven, the Great Master featuring the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) consisting of 70 musicians from Macao and Hong Kong , China under the baton of internationally renowned violinist Leung Kin Fung (www.leungkinfung.com). of the Hong Kong Philharmonic. The program will include Egmont Overture, Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61. and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67 The Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) was founded in 1997 by a group of music teachers and former players from the Macao Chamber Orchestra. The MYSO draws its members from the local university, and from secondary and primary schools. Since its inception, the orchestra has given more than one hundred public performances. The MYSO has also performed with youth orchestras from overseas such as the Taiwan Fine Art Orchestra, Taiwan Shindian High School Orchestra, HK Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and Australia SBS Youth Orchestra, among others. Having been invited by the organizers, the MYSO joined the American violinist Itzhak Perlman during his visit to Shanghai participating in several TV programs that include The Television Concert of Itzhak Perlman and Thousand Violin Children. During its tour of Hong Kong in 2004, the orchestra performed at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, becoming the first local orchestra to perform in that venue. It was also invited to perform in the 28th Harbin Summer Music Concert in August 2006. The orchestra has performed in many cities and countries. In 2007, the MYSO made its first international tour performing in Guangzhou (PRC) at the Xian Xing-Hai Concert Hall, in Australia (Sydney, Hobart, Brisbane) and in Singapore at the Victoria Hall. In March 2008, the MYSO joined the EOS Symphony Orchestra from the China Central Music Conservatory to perform in Beijing at the recently opened National Grand Theater Concert Hall under the baton of Hu Yongyan. The MYSO was also selected to participate in the 8th World Choral Festival Vienna & Salzburg 2008, becoming the first youth orchestra from China to perform with the Vienna Boys Choir at the Wiener Musikverein and the Salzburg Mozarteum. In addition to its main objective of providing music education and musical entertainment to the local youth, the orchestra prides itself in introducing many local talents to audiences through two annual events: the orchestras Anniversary Concert and the New Generation. Since the performance of Schuberts Unfinished Symphony in the year of its inception (1997) to the recent European tour in 2008, extraordinary progress has been demonstrated by the orchestras young players. MYSO has received wide critical acclaim.
