: A Violin & Piano Duo Recital ความคิดเห็นที่ : On Thursday, August 14th, 2008 commencing at 8 pm. at Goethe Institut Auditorium on South Sathorn Road Soi 1 . D&M Music Studio in cooperation with Goethe Institut Thailand proudly present “ A Violin & Piano Duo Recital “ performed by internationally known violinist , Alexander Scherbakov and pianist, Madalina Slav. Alexander Scherbakov is recognized as one of the most captivating and gifted young artists of his generation. Already in 1993, at the age of eleven, Alexander participated in the International Competition Citta di Stresa in Italy, where he won 1st prizes. In August 2001, Alexander became one of the five finalists at the Brahms International Competition in Austria. In 1995 Alexander was accepted at the Purcell School of Music in London where he studied with Dimitar Burov on a full scholarship basis. Two years later he changed to the class of Prof. D. Hahn (student of Zino Francescatti) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Alexander also studied with Prof. Zakhar Bron, Prof. Evgueni Bushkov, Vladimir Spivakov and Gerhardt Schulz. In 1997 he made his first CD-production with the Purcell School Symphony Orchestra for "Decca". Later that year he was awarded a scholarship by the Max-Hussman-Foundation for exceptional talent, Zurich. Since September 2000, when he was awarded a full, merit-based scholarship he studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY with Prof. Oleh Krysa (former student of David Oistrakh) and received valuable private and chamber music instruction from the Ying String Quartet. Alexander also had the honor of being the first freshman in the history of the school to lead the Eastman Philharmonic Orchestra. In spring 2002 he enrolled in the "Advanced Musicianship Studies" program at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he had the opportunity to study with the distinguished Prof. Alice Shonfeld. Alexander Scherbakov will be on piano accompaniment by Madalina Slav , prizewinner of many competitions including First Prize at “Golden Lira Competition”, Second Prize at “Franz Schubert Competition”, Second Prize at the “National Competition for Pianistic Virtuosity”, Third Prize at the Italian “San Bartolomeo International Competition” and First Prize at “The Final National Competition Romanian Music” to mention only a few.
