The pre-jury consists of well-known music teachers working in Thailand. The identity of the musicians will not be disclosed to the jury members. The pre-jury invites the musician to the first round of the competition. Balloting Session A balloting session will be conducted on October 4 from 11.00 to 15.00 at the Goethe-Institut in Bangkok. It determines the participants order of appearance at the competition. First Round The jury of the first round consists of maximum 9 musicians working in Thailand. The first round is open to the public. In the competition you have to bring your accompanist with you. Solo works do not have to be performed from memory except, neither pieces with piano accompaniment. Final Round The time period between the first and the final round should give you time to prepare well. In the final round you have to bring your accompanist with you. Solo works do not have to be performed from memory. The concerto must be performed from memory. The jury consists of three acknowledged musicians working outside Thailand. They have the right to stop a participants performance at any stage of the competition. They have the right to award or not award prizes as they deem fit. The adjudicating panels decision is final. Award Winners Concert & Prize Presentation Ceremony Prize winners from all categories will perform at the prize presentation ceremony. Prize winners are asked to attend the ceremonies. Masterclasses The organizers are planning master classes for the period October 17 to 18. The masterclasses are open to participants of the contest only. Participants of the first and second round are performing in the masterclasses. Other applicants are admitted to observe only. Entry Procedure Entries must be made on the official application form and reach the D&M Music Studio or the Goethe-Institut by September 15 at 18.00. Applications received after this date and time will not be considered and appeals will not be entertained. The following documents must be enclosed with the application form: One recent passport size photography Photocopy of birth certificate or document showing proof of age and nationality Foreigners who are studying, working or residing in Thailand must submit a photocopy of the student pass, employment pass or dependents pass. One set of photocopied music scores of the competition programme. Please ensure the composers name and title of the work are clearly printed or written on the photocopied score. Registration fee The registration fee is 3.000 THB Group A // 3.000 THB Group B. It must be submitted together with the application form and cassette tape audition. Please make cheques or money orders payable to Mongkol Chayasirisobhon, Krungthai Bank Ekamai Branch 053-1-19873-1 savings account Participants must notify the organizer of any change to the submitted programme in writing by September 29, 2008. Changes submitted after this date will not be permitted and appeals will not be entertained. Participants will receive notification of acceptance of entries before or by September 30. The names will also be published on this website. Awards/Prizes Prize winners from all categories will perform at the Prize Presentation Ceremony. Prize winners are asked to attend both the winners concert and the Prize Presentation Ceremony. There will be only one winner of each age category, no matter in which instrument, and the winners will receive trophies, certificates and cash prizes. Cash Prizes Group A: 1st prize 40,000 Baht 2nd prize 20,000 Baht 3rd prize 15,000 Baht Group B: 1st prize 30,000 Baht 2nd prize 15,000 Baht 3rd prize 10,000 Baht In the case of a tie in the first or second the prize cash amount will be divided equally. Further Benefits The winners in both age groups will obtain the opportunity to perform one concert at Music Auditorium of the College of Music at Mahidol University (MACM) in Salaya. The Jury has the option to recommend the winner of the older age group to be invited to the Beethoven Festival Bonn in September 2009. It is up to the organization of the Beethoven Festival Bonn, however, to invite to either visit the festival or even give a performance. Air Berlin /LTU would be ready to sponsor the flight.
