ข้อความ : หนังสือทำมือเป็นอีกหนึ่งวิธีในการแสดงศิลปะในการเขียนโดยไม่ได้จำกัดรูปแบบตายตัวแน่นอน ไม่จำกัดจำนวนหน้าหรือรูปเล่ม และรวมถึงความคิดอิสระในทางการนำเสนอผลงาน เพราะไม่ถูกจำกัดโดยมุมมองของบรรณาธิการและเหตุผลทางเศรษฐกิจว่าจะขายไม่ได้หรือไม่ หากแต่เป็นความต้องการที่จะสร้างสรรค์ผลงานออกมาด้วยแรงใจและแนวความคิดที่สดใหม่ เป็นตัวของตัวเอง ชมรมวรรณศิลป์ จุฬาฯได้เห็นว่าปัจจุบันนี้มีกลุ่มผู้ผลิตหนังสือทำมือและผู้ที่สนใจมากมาย อีกทั้งฝีไม้ลายมือของแต่ละคนก็ยังน่าจับตามอง เพียงแต่ยังไม่มีโอกาสประกาศให้โลกรู้ว่า “ผลงานของฉันนี่แหละเยี่ยมไปเลย!” ณ โอกาสนี้ชมรมวรรณศิลป์ จุฬาฯจึงได้จัดการประกวดหนังสือทำมือครั้งที่1 ประจำปี 2547 เพื่อเป็นการกระตุ้นให้ประชาชนหันมาสนใจงานทางวรรณศิลป์มากขึ้นและยังจะเป็นการเผยแพร่ให้ผลงานของที่ชนะรางวัลเป็นที่รู้จักมากขึ้นอีกด้วย โดยมีรายละเอียดดังนี้
ความยาว 20 – 40 หน้า
ไม่จำกัดประเภททั้งเรื่องสั้น บทความ และร้อยกรอง
ไม่จำกัดอายุผู้เข้าประกวด
ไม่จำกัดขนาดหนังสือ
รางวัลแด่ผู้ชนะเลิศ รางวัลละ 2,000 บาท
แบ่งเป็นสองประเภทคือ 1. พิจารณาจากเนื้อหาใจความ
2. พิจารณาจากความสวยงามและความคิดสร้างสรรค์ในการจัดทำรูปเล่ม
