Message : I have answers for some questions. 1.Well, in terms of technical school, the answer is Yes. The academic is very strong, especially in agriculture, engineering and related field. Iowa State is a research-oriented school, which is suitable to graduate student. The school atmosphere encourage student to concentrate on their academic work. 2.Iowa is a very safe place to live. The population size is very small here. Iowa is a farm state. There are not many big industrial cities here. So, the crime rate is very low. Ames is definitely a good place to study. 3. Waiting for other's answer. 4. I think it is harder to get assistantship for MBA student. But, scholarship is thinkable. 5. I'm not an MBAer, but some suggestion is 5.1 Present yourself, show them that you'd bring diversity to the program (most MBA program like it), either different culture or work experience might help. 5.2 Strong TOEFL/GMAT/GPA, you know it. 6. Message : I am a new student this semester. for your questions; 2. It's very safe place to live and really good for studying. 3.1 I paid around $300 for my apartment (2 bedroom inuniversity aparment; maybe higher in winter for gas service) and $300 for other things like food, something else. 3.2 I don't know about tuition fee for MBA students but I quite sure that it's the same as you saw in IASTATE website. 5. I know from my friends about get in MBA school that you must have high TOEFL and GMAT score, good statements, and experiences related to your field. 6. One year experience is OK but 2 years or more is better. 7. Lonely? It totally depends how is your lifestyle. We have nothing much to do here like shopping malls, or nightlife stuffs. But we have a very beautiful city, Ames, and beautiful university. I enjoy my life here. Other things, we have three or four sports centers. We play every week. Moreover, the bottom line is everyone(P' P') here is very nice. 8. Difficult to travel to other states? I think it's kind of difficult for me because I don't have any car. We have GREYHOUND (bus services) in Ames. We don't have any commercial airport in the town.
