Subject : P'Joe^, Ask about FRAME
Message : P'Joe^,
Right now I'm a fan of your pictures at PhotoSIG. One more thing that I want to learn from you that how do you create a frame. I meant how do you know that which picture is suit for which frame, a white one, a black one, or either a black one with white stroke. I'm wondering if you can tell me when you have time.

[folks, I don't want to use this webboard for photograph things only, don't complain me na na :-D]

Message : Well, choosing frame colors is a little tricky technique to make the picture more impressive. My first idea is to distinguish the picture from that dull grey background of photosig. And, I want that frame to create a contrast effect to my picture, which will make my picture looks more colorful than its plain version.

It is quite difficult to explain why I choose or how I choose the frame color. I like black and white because they both are not too fancy and seems to be good backgrounds. If you picture have dark tone color, then the white frame seems to be a match. On the other hand, if you have light/soft tone picture, use the black will create a good contrast. But, it's not the stiff rule, since we will have to compare both color and choose the best fit.

Also, as you notice, the slim white frame (width 20-30 pixel) can make the picture looks like a old-style color print.

As you might seen, framing is all about trial & error. You make the choices, compare them and choose your best. Just simple.

Some critics in Photosig even said my framing is tricky because it makes the picture looks better than the actual. I think they're just about right. haha.
